Sockapalooza Socks
Finally we've had some better light (when I've been at home) so I took some more pictures of the fabulous socks
Valerie sent.
Here's a close-up of the heel and gusset area, and you can clearly see the unique construction, as well as all the gorgeous colours of the
Fleece Artist yarn.

1. I love to read and I just finished
Creation In Death by JD Robb. (J told me I had to add this because it would make lots of people jealous, particularly in the US).
2. I dislike pink.
3. I've lived in the same city for all of my life.
4. I've never smoked, probably because my Grandfather was a very heavy smoker and he died of lung cancer.
5. I've never knitted myself a jumper/sweater.
6. I'm an excellent procrastinator.
7. I frequently use my DPNs as "straights"
8. I love wearing
Crocs.
Man was this hard!

Sockapalooza Socks!!!
When I opened my letter box today, I found...
from my super-special
Sockapalooza sock saviour
Valerie! A GORGEOUS pair of socks...
The pattern is
Deb Barnhill's Back-to-Basics, available in the Fall 07 issue of
Knitty and the yarn is
Fleece Artist (I *think*. Please correct me if I'm wrong Valerie). I'm fascinated by the structure of the socks; they're knitted toe-up and the gussets are on the top of the foot and the ribbing runs from the bottom of the heel flap to the cast-off edge. I'm definitely going to have to knit myself a pair.
As you can see, they fit beautifully and they're ultra-comfy. I LOVE the colourway Valerie chose - purples, navy and chocolate.
Valerie also included a some Project Info Cards and a skein of
Fleece Artist's Nova Socks (a riot of glorious blues. So pretty!) The project info cards will definitely come in handy, just the right size to attach to a pair of gift socks (as Valerie did with my socks).
Thank you Valerie for my "Nova Scotia" package (Valerie, Fleece Artist and the sock designer, Deb Barnhill, are ALL from Nova Scotia!!!). Thank you for knitting me a beautiful pair of socks, for lovely sock yarn and project info cards, but most of all thank you for volunteering to be a sock saviour, I sincerely appreciate your time and effort.

Canterbury Dash or Canterbury "Run"?
So... look what happened the first time I washed my
Canterbury Dash socks...
Pretty shade of green isn't it?
This is why I ALWAYS handwash socks the first time I wash them.

Yummy Yarns
Recently, my good friends J and S gave me a gift certificate to
THE LOOPY EWE!!!
I umm-ed and ahh-ed for awhile (so many beautiful colourways, how do you choose?) before ordering...
2 skeins of
ShibuiKnits in the "Marine" colourway and a skein of
Zen String Bambewe in the "Linen" colourway.
Both yarns are 'new-to-me' and they're simply gorgeous! I found both yarns to be exactly the colours I'd expected and dealing with
The Loopy Ewe was an absolute pleasure. Totally hassle-free!
I also ordered
"Millicent", a CookieA pattern. The way the ribbing swoops across the foot has me fascinated. I'm looking forward to trying it.
I don't yet know which socks these yarns want to be, so feel free to make suggestions.
Thanks again S & J! :D
