FO ~ Hhat
I finished this before the winter cold set in. It's a "warm hat" for a little friend of mine and it was worn all winter.

Pattern: I knew what I wanted and I couldn't find a pattern, so I made it up as I went along.
Yarn:
Shepherd Colour 4 Me (
Ravelry link). Colours: #4988 (blue) & #4989 (variegated blues & green). Yarn held double (1 strand of each) throughout.
Needles: 6mm (body of the hat & 5.5mm for the earflaps and i-cord.
Thoughts: A quick and fun knit. My little friend loved it and wore it all winter, which is about the best endorsement possible.

FO ~ Socks #2/2008

Pattern: My own
Yarn: Patonyle by
Patons (
on Ravelry) in colourway #4306 (multi-blues)
Needles: 2.5mm & 2.25mm DPNs
Comments: Patonyle, how I love thee! It's beautifully soft and it washes and wears brilliantly. Some of the colourways left a lot to be desired, but I LOVE this one. Sadly (very sadly) Patonyle is discontinued now (much to the chagrin of many Aussie sock knitters!).

FO ~ Socks #15/2007
J and I finally worked out what kind of socks I was going to knit her for her birthday. She requested "sockettes" and didn't mind what pattern I used.
Here's what I came up with...

Yarn:
Cleckheaton Cocoon, colour #0003
Pattern: My own. I had J take some measurements and I went from there. After I'd finished the heel, I decided I wanted some kind of lace detail. So I browsed a bunch of books before I decided on "Crosshatch Lace" from
More Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch (
Ravelry link), so I used 3 repeats of the lace pattern, centered on the top of the foot.
Needles: 2.5mm DPNs
Thoughts: They were a fun knit. I stressed about whether they'd fit, but as you can see, they fit beautifully!

Sockapalooza ~ Socks #11/2007
My
Sockapalooza pal
Holly has
received her socks!

*Be sure to check out
Holly's pictures as they show the lace pattern better than my photo does*
I started out knitting
Wyvern socks, but realised the 'scales' weren't showing too clearly with the colour of the yarn... so I flipped through some books for ideas, and came across "Padded Footlets" in
Favorite Socks. A bit of tweaking and designing later, and voila... my first pair of toe-up socks (finally OzKnitter's knitted toe-up socks, I hear some of you exclaim)!
The yarn is
Elizabeth 100% Superwash Merino from
Live2Knit in the "Smoke" colourway. It's lovely and soft, a dream to knit with (it 'takes' frogging well too).
They fit and Holly loves them, so I'm delighted.
