Catching Up
I have several pics and several finished objects to share...
You may remember
these... we finally remembered to snap a picture. They were a birthday gift for my friend R, and she loves them.
Yarn: Hot Socks (I'd have to hunt up the ballband for additional details)
Needles: 2.5mm
Pattern: my own
Here's my FIRST FINISHED crochet item!
The photo doesn't show off the colours well, but it's the clearest we could get.
Yarn: Anchor Magicline Cotton
Pattern: From R's crocheted dishcloths book (I'll have to get the details)
My "
snappy" socks...
They're finally finished, thanks to the arrival of some
Knit Picks DPNs.
Yarn: Opal Lollipop
Needles: 2.5mm & 2.25mm DPNs

2 x Finished Objects
I've been keeping busy both knitting and crocheting, so here are a couple of pictures to show you some of what I've been up to...
My second-ever crocheted item ~
It's a dishcloth made using Anchor Magicline. To begin with I had some trouble figuring out the pattern, but thanks to IM help from J and phone help (and in-person assistance) from R, I finally got it all figured out! As R pointed out, my gauge did get a little looser the further I went. (Apparently I'm a tight crocheter... which makes sense as I'm a tighter knitter too).
A knitted object...
It's a baby hat (0-3 months) for a
SnB friend who's about to have her first baby.

Recently
Barbara, editor of
YARN magazine, put out a call asking readers to visit their local
Borders to check that the new issue was on display at the registers (where it should have been). Visiting
Borders is never a chore for me, so I was more than happy to check out a couple of stores.
As a thank you, Barbara sent me...
a set of 2.75mm
Brittany Birch DPNs, 2 balls of
Ornaghi Filati "Luna Park" in a fabulously bright colourway and 2 balls of
Dale "Heilo" in a gorgeous red.
Many thanks for the wonderful surprise Barbara! I haven't seen either of these yarns before. I'm looking forward to knitting with them. The DPNs will come in handy too; they're perfect for socks.
