Recently
Barbara, editor of
YARN magazine, put out a call asking readers to visit their local
Borders to check that the new issue was on display at the registers (where it should have been). Visiting
Borders is never a chore for me, so I was more than happy to check out a couple of stores.
As a thank you, Barbara sent me...

a set of 2.75mm
Brittany Birch DPNs, 2 balls of
Ornaghi Filati "Luna Park" in a fabulously bright colourway and 2 balls of
Dale "Heilo" in a gorgeous red.
Many thanks for the wonderful surprise Barbara! I haven't seen either of these yarns before. I'm looking forward to knitting with them. The DPNs will come in handy too; they're perfect for socks.

YARN Magazine & Mag Nation
Last night I went to
YARN Magazine's knit in at
Mag Nation. It was great to meet Barbara, Rosemary and Sarah from YARN and to catch up with lots of knitters, some of whom I know from my SnB group.
The evening was filled with lots of chatting and knitting and I had a fabulous time. I also came home with goodies...

Two balls of
Rare Fire from
The Rare Yarns Company, an alpaca, mohair and merino blend (approx 14ply) that's soft and squishy and a set of 5.50mm Birch metal DPNs. These were a gift from Barbara (the editor of YARN) to say 'thanks' (for sitting and knitting in the window of
Mag Nation on Sunday, to publicise the knit in).
When you purchased a copy of the new issue of YARN last night you received a 'goodie bag'. There were a couple of different goodie bags, and mine contained 2 sets of Clover bamboo DPNs (3.5mm & 4.00mm) and a ball of
Ornaghi's
Merino Kind #125 which is a super soft 8ply. Yum!
Thanks to
YARN Magazine and
Mag Nation for a wonderful evening. I hope it's the first of many.
