Crisis ~ 2.25mm DPNs
So, I'm asking for your advice... what bamboo/wooden 2.25mm DPNs have you used and been happy with? (If you use an online supplier, that ships to Australia, a link would be fabulous)
Thanks!

I've used "SRK Collection" bamboo dpns, which are fine. (I prefer metal, because I'm really hard on the bamboo - they turn into boomerangs!) I buy them at my LYS, but I checked the international shipping rates and nearly had a heart attack at the price, so no recommendations.

I use Brittany Birch and I'm really happy with them. I bought them from my lovely daughter at Natty Yarns, online.....http://www.nattyyarns.com.au/shop/

She's in Perth now, but will post anywhere. -
2.25mm is a difficult size to find - I had Brittany's & also snapped one of them, so I am in the same situation. Now waiting for my Pony Pearl dpns from Canada - reasonable prices & ships to Australia - check her store at

Good luck! -
Sarah ~ thanks for the name, I'll check them out. I'm the opposite to you, I don't like metal because I wind up with a hole in my finger. My bamboo usually bend a bit, but don't usually snap.

Sue ~ Thanks Sue, I'll check them out.
Ann ~ I agree Ann, it's a difficult size to find. Here in Australia it's the "recommended" needle size for 4ply sock yarn, so metal DPNs in 2.25mm are easy to come across... it's finding anything else that's tricky. Thanks for the link, I'll check out the Pony Pearls. -
The Simply Sock company do this size in Crystal Palace Bamboo DPNs and they ship internationally. I ordered a set for a friend who cannot use metal. :)

They also do harder wood DPNS :) -
My absolute favourite dpns are the Tulip Bamboo sets, and they do have 2.25mm size. Tapestry Craft in Sydney sells them (link here), and I believe they ship anywhere.

Try Lewis Harper. He's the guy who made my2mm cane needles.
If you look under White Pages (personal), he's in postcode 3215.
I'm reluctant to post his phone number publicly, but email me if you get stuck. -
Hmm, Clover does have 2.25mm DPNs, I have a couple sets. Or did you mean 2.5mm? In any case, if you want me to mail you some, let me know. :)

My favorite DPN's are Crystal Palace and they come in two lengths....I actually like the short length the best. I recently tried the Pony Pearls and like them, too. Addi Naturas are nice but they don't come in 2.25mm.

Hello! I use Brittany also and really like them, but have resorted to using metal for the smallest sizes because of splintering on the ends.

I use Brittany's. If you snap them, they'll replace them for free (and generally send you an extra one or two as well). I'm not sure if their guarantee works for Australia or not, but I've replaced probably 10+ 2.25mm needles so far!
