Free Pattern: Jaymi's Sockettes
Jaymi’s Sockettes
Note: This pattern is suitable for DPNs (Double Pointed Needles) or circular needles. Arrange stitches to suit the needles you are using and make use of markers, where indicated.
Yarn:
Fingering weight sock yarn (approx 40 – 45gm)
Needles:
2.5mm Double Pointed or Circular needles
Cast on:
Cast on 52 stitches.
Join for working in the round, and place marker to indicate start of round.
Cuff:
Rnds 1 – 4: *
Prepare for heel:
1. *
2. Sl1, purl 25 sts. Turn.
These 26 stitches will form the heel flap.
(Leave the remaining 26 stitches unworked. Rearrange these stitches to suit, ie 13 on each of 2 DPNs or 26 on a circular needle.)
Heel flap:
1. *Sl1, K1* across.
2. Sl1, purl across
Repeat these 2 rows 14 times (total of 28 rows worked)
Turn heel:
1. Sl1, knit to 2 stitches after the marker, Sl1, K1, PSSO, K1. Turn.
2. Sl1, purl to 2 stitches after the marker, P2TOG, P1. Turn.
3. Sl1, knit to one stitch before the ‘gap’. S1, K1, PSSO, K1. Turn.
4. Sl1, purl to one stitch before the ‘gap’. P2TOG, P1. Turn.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all heel stitches have been worked, ending after a purl row.
Join for knitting in the round:
Knit across the heel stitches. Then pick up and knit 14 stitches along the edge of the heel flap.
Place marker.
Knit across the 26 stitches you left unworked earlier.
Place marker.
Pick up and knit 14 stitches along the edge of the heel flap. Continue knitting to the end of the round.
Gusset:
1. Knit to 4 stitches before the first marker. K2TOG,
2. Knit all stitches.
Repeat these two rounds until you have a total of 52 stitches. Remove the 2 markers you added for the gusset (leave the one that marks the start of the round).
Foot:
Knit every round, until the sock measures 1” (5cm) less than foot length. (Measure from back of heel).
Set up for Toe:
Place marker after stitch #13 and place marker after stitch #39.
Toe:
1. Knit to 3 stitches before first marker. K2TOG,
2. Knit all stitches.
Repeat these two rounds until you have 28 stitches remaining.
Rearrange stitches by placing the first 7 and last 7 stitches on one needle, and the middle 14 stitches on a second needle.

Weave in ends & wear.

K = Knit
P = Purl
K2TOG = knit 2 stitches together
Sl1 = slip 1 stitch knitwise
PSSO = pass the slipped stitch over
